Peach Sorbet (made with Cardinal Farms Peaches)

Posted on July 22, 2014 Written by Nibby Priest

Makes about fourteen 1/2- cup servings

3/4 Cup of Granulated Sugar
3/4 Cup of Water
2 1/2 Pounds of Peeled and sliced Peaches
2/3 Cup tangerine or orange juice (we used fresh squeezed oranges)
1 Tablespoon Corn Syrup  (the stuff that’s killing us!)

Place sugar and water in a 1 1/2 quart saucepan.  Bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce heat to medium and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved to make a simple syrup- you will have 1 1/4 cups simple syrup. Transfer to a bowl and cool completely.

Place the peach slices/cubes or chunks into a blender and slightly puree.  You should end up with 6 cups of Peach Puree.  Stir in the tangerine or orange juice, corn syrup and cooled simple syrup.  Cover and chill for 2 hours or longer.

Cuisinart ICE-30BC Pure Indulgence 2-Quart Automatic Frozen Yogurt, Sorbet, and Ice Cream MakerTurn on the Cuisinart Ice Cream maker and pour the mixture into the freezer bowl, and let mix until thickened, about 20 to 25 minutes.  The sorbet will have a soft, slushy texture , similar to a freshly scooped Italian ice, If a firmer consistency is desired, transfer the sorbet to an airtight container and place in freezer for about 2 hours. Remove from freezer about 15 minutes before serving.

– I trust you will enjoy this recipe as much as I have.  This year we have been blessed with bountiful peaches.  Let me know how it turns out when you make this recipe.

Toastmasters 12/11/2013 Shownotes

Posted on December 12, 2013 Written by Nibby Priest

I was proud to be the official Toastmaster of Riverbend Toastmasters meeting on December 11, 2013.

The theme of our meeting was “The Christmas Machine.”  I took the idea from one of our members Louann Clark’s podcast A Decided Difference.

We had some exciting speakers Kacie Mattox spoke about all the things her family does to create family memories.

Clydean Gish spoke on “Sew Sew Christmas” and how her and several of her friends are making (sewing) pillow dresses for children in foreign countries.

Many times when I speak I can’t help to give some sort of infomercial for something. And since many people are looking for just the right new electronic gadget to buy for unique Christmas gifts I showed off some gadgets that I refer to as the “Cable TV Replacement Toys“.

Well these devices cannot totally allow you to do away with the expensive cable tv but they sure can help.

The Devices are:

Google Chromecast -Most inexpensive gadget and the newest at $35.

Apple TV–  The product that has been out the longest and most stable and works with iPad and iPhone and retails for around $100

Roku– Claims to have over 1,000 channels (some requiring subscriptions)  and works with most TV’s and is the one that I use.

The best prices for these devices can be found at Amazon!

I recommend Amazon Prime. Try it out now for seven days and order your Chrismas gifts then cancel. I know thats cheating a little but it is a great service and well worth the $79 annual costs.

Buy Google Chromecast (this is a #1 best seller this year for Amazon)

Buy Apple TV

Buy Roku

Scribe Fire Blog Writing Add on for Google Chrome Test Post

Posted on December 11, 2013 Written by Nibby Priest

I was reading an artcile about a blog writing tool called Scribe Fire to help me with my blog writing.

This is a test post.

This possible could be a nice replacement to help with the blog writing.  I used to use a microsoft product called Windows Live Writer. It became not that stable so i stopped using it and went to writing directly in WordPress.  We will see how this product works.  So far it seems quite promising.

Thank you for taking time to read this.

Who Died in Henderson KY ?

Website Obituary Notifications for Henderson KY

Did you ever wonder how you are going to know if someone died in Henderson Kentucky now that the local newspaper (The Gleaner) has put up a pay wall for reading the obituaries?

That question is easy to answer!

Sign up for the email obituaries that all local funeral homes publish.

I was told in recent years by a Gleaner advertising representative that the obituary page of the newspaper was the most frequently view page on the on-line site, and a reason people buy an actual newspaper.  I am proud to say that I purchase (and have for several years) the digital edition of The Gleaner for less than $90 per annum.  This is a great buy for the daily paper on both the desktop computer and the iPad.  The iPad edition of the paper looks just like the printed copy of the newspaper!

Having the obituaries emailed to you is a very nice service because you will get notification of the local death as soon as the funeral home actually gives the obituary to the newspapers direct to your desk top or mobile device.

It’s easy to sign up.  Just click on the  funeral home name below and enter your email information, and you will be on the list.  I have been signed up for all of them since they started offering the service.  All of the funeral homes are good and only send you obituary notice information.  They do not spam you and try to sell you funeral plans or anything like that.

This is a great way to remember to pay respects to people you know and love.  Sign up for the obituary notifications today and never be left not knowing “who died”!
