WI-FI: Open and Free in Henderson KY

Posted on May 28, 2010 Written by Nibby Priest

UPDATE August 10, 2011:  Visitors who bring their laptops to the Henderson riverfront may now access a free Wi-Fi Internet connection. Users can go to the Firefly network in their Wi-Fi settings and connect. Free access is limited to two hours in each 24 hour time period. The Wi-Fi project is made possible by the Downtown Henderson Project, City of Henderson, Henderson Municipal Power and Light, and Methodist Hospital.  Please note that this is only a 2 mbps/512kbps connection (free) and you will be enticed to purchase for a hefty fee higher bandwidths and longer online times.

Original Post 5/23/2010:
Do you know where free open WI-FI (wireless internet) is in Henderson KY?

The Downtown Henderson Project has tried for several years to get free WI-FI blanketed throughout the entire downtown Henderson KY community-but have not been able to do so.  They are still trying to make this happen.

In the meantime, here are some places that are known to have open and free WI-FI:

Henderson County Public Library

Sunset Park

Planters Coffeehouse

Methodist Hospital

L&N Bed and Breakfast

Subway Sandwiches

McDonald’s (N Green St)

McDonald’s (US 41 N)

Community Baptist Church

What are other places you might know of?  Please comment!

Support PeopleforBikes.org

May is National Bicycle Month and cities and towns all around are promoting bicycling.

Join me and others that have signed a pledge to support more people on bicycles.  You could win a bicycle!

The pledge is simple but profound:

“I am for bikes. I’m for long rides and short rides. I’m for commuting to work, weekend rides, racing, riding to school, or just a quick spin around the block. I believe that no matter how I ride, biking makes me happy and is great for my health, my community and the environment we all share. That is why I am pledging my name in support of a better future for bicycling — one that is safe and fun for everyone. By uniting my voice with a million others, I believe that we can make our world a better place to ride.”

Enter for your chance to win a new bike

When is the last time you rode a bicycle?
