Who Died in Henderson KY ?

Website Obituary Notifications for Henderson KY

Did you ever wonder how you are going to know if someone died in Henderson Kentucky now that the local newspaper (The Gleaner) has put up a pay wall for reading the obituaries?

That question is easy to answer!

Sign up for the email obituaries that all local funeral homes publish.

I was told in recent years by a Gleaner advertising representative that the obituary page of the newspaper was the most frequently view page on the on-line site, and a reason people buy an actual newspaper.  I am proud to say that I purchase (and have for several years) the digital edition of The Gleaner for less than $90 per annum.  This is a great buy for the daily paper on both the desktop computer and the iPad.  The iPad edition of the paper looks just like the printed copy of the newspaper!

Having the obituaries emailed to you is a very nice service because you will get notification of the local death as soon as the funeral home actually gives the obituary to the newspapers direct to your desk top or mobile device.

It’s easy to sign up.  Just click on the  funeral home name below and enter your email information, and you will be on the list.  I have been signed up for all of them since they started offering the service.  All of the funeral homes are good and only send you obituary notice information.  They do not spam you and try to sell you funeral plans or anything like that.

This is a great way to remember to pay respects to people you know and love.  Sign up for the obituary notifications today and never be left not knowing “who died”!

The Benefits of A Bicycle – and having less stuff

Posted on November 10, 2012 Written by Nibby Priest

It seems like of late if you ask me about stuff or things I will tell you this.

That I presently believe in these three things:

1. If I can’t ride it as in BICYCLE I really don’t need it.

2. If I can’t eat it as in FOOD, I really don’t need it.

3. If I can’t scan or digitize it in some shape or fashion, I really don’t need it.

It seems like we American people are being controlled by our stuff and processions.

What things/stuff in your life could you par down or do without?

How do you send a Text from your PC or Outlook?

Posted on January 31, 2012 Written by Nibby Priest

If you have your contacts mobile number and provider, you can send an email that will be a text message.

For example to send a text via email to a customer on AT&T, you would send to 1112223333@txt.att.net. See below for a known list of companies.

AT&T – cellnumber@txt.att.net
Verizon – cellnumber@vtext.com
T-Mobile – cellnumber@tmomail.net
Sprint PCS – cellnumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
Virgin Mobile – cellnumber@vmobl.com
US Cellular – cellnumber@email.uscc.net
Nextel – cellnumber@messaging.nextel.com
Boost – cellnumber@myboostmobile.com
Alltel – cellnumber@message.alltel.com

Of course you should ask permission before you send someone a text message via email since the receiver is responsible for the cost.

Time Change- Do we still need it?

Posted on November 4, 2011 Written by Nibby Priest

[tentblogger-youtube 84aWtseb2-4]

Twice a year we have to go through the process of syncing all our clocks for the time change.  Fortunately several of my clocks adjust automatically to the time change.

The “time change” messes with my body and my sleeping and waking schedule. The goal each evening for me is to be in the bed reading by 8:30 pm and rising by 4:00. The first week after the time change regardless if it is Spring or Fall time change I feel out of routine.

The Daylight Savings time change was created in 1895 to save energy and more give farmers more daylight. According to the video poses a question with me. Do we really need to continue doing this?  I agree with this video’s producers that it might be a practice that we need to eliminate.

It’s time to make a push to our government to stop this practice of changing time twice a year.

Should we encourage the elimination of the twice year fall back and spring forward of our clocks?
